Neighborhoods near the Wilshire office
The office is an easy trip for many people in the middle of the city. It is close to home for people in Mid-City West, Carthay and the Miracle Mile. It is also a short trip from the Fairfax District, Park La Brea and Hancock Park. Beverly Grove and West Hollywood are nearby too.
Some patients choose a doctor near home. Others choose one near work, so a visit fits into a lunch hour or the end of the day. The office is open Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Dr. Pimienta trained in internal medicine at LAC+USC and completed his GI fellowship training at Stanford University. He believes good care begins with listening. At your visit he takes time to hear the whole story, explains what he thinks is going on in plain language, and makes a plan with you, not for you.
Getting to the office
The office is on Wilshire Boulevard, about a mile east of Beverly Hills.
- By Metro: the D Line subway extension opened in May 2026, with a new station at Wilshire/Fairfax. The office is a few blocks west of that station. The D Line connects this part of Wilshire with Koreatown and Downtown Los Angeles. See Metro's D Line extension page for details.
- By bus: Metro buses also run along Wilshire Boulevard.
- By car: ask our team about parking when you book. Traffic on Wilshire can be heavy at busy times, so plan a little extra time.
If you are coming for a colonoscopy or upper endoscopy, the plan is different, because you need an adult to take you home after sedation. More on that below.
What you can be seen for
Dr. Pimienta sees adults for problems of the esophagus, stomach, intestines, liver and colon. Common reasons people come in include:
- Heartburn and acid reflux (GERD) that keeps coming back or does not get better with medicine
- Belly pain, bloating, constipation or diarrhea, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
- Blood in the stool or a change in bowel habits
- Abnormal liver tests or fatty liver disease
- Trouble swallowing, or a feeling that food gets stuck
- Colorectal cancer screening, which most adults at average risk should start at age 45, and follow-up after colon polyps
- Medical weight management, because he is also board-certified in obesity medicine
Not sure if your problem needs a GI doctor? The conditions page explains each one in plain language. You can also ask your primary care doctor, or call us.
Some symptoms cannot wait for an office visit. If you are vomiting blood, have black or bloody stools with dizziness, have severe or worsening belly pain, or food is stuck and you cannot swallow your own saliva, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
Procedures, close by in Beverly Hills
Colonoscopy and upper endoscopy (EGD) are done at Specialty Surgical Center of Beverly Hills, at 8670 Wilshire Blvd, less than a mile west of the office on the same boulevard. If you need both, they can be done the same day. Your consultation, your procedure and your follow-up all stay with Dr. Pimienta.
On procedure day you receive sedation, so you need a responsible adult to take you home. Read more on the Beverly Hills page and the preparation page.
When a video visit is easier
Not every visit needs a trip down Wilshire. Many consultations, follow-ups and talks about test results can be done by secure video, as long as you are in California at the time of the visit. New-patient video visits are not same-day. Learn what you need on the new patients page.
Care in Spanish
Dr. Pimienta speaks Spanish, so you can describe your symptoms and ask questions in your own words, without an interpreter. Se habla español. Our team can also help you schedule in Spanish. Family members are welcome to join the visit.
Medicare and self-pay
Dr. Pimienta accepts Medicare, including patients with a secondary plan. With a Medicare Advantage plan, call us before booking so we can check your plan. For other insurance, the practice is out of network, so visits are self-pay; our team explains pricing before anything is booked and gives you a superbill to send to your insurance. Details are on the insurance and payment page.
Questions patients ask
Where exactly is the office?
At 6333 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 200, Los Angeles, CA 90048. It is in Mid-City West, just west of the Miracle Mile, a few blocks west of the Metro D Line Wilshire/Fairfax station.
Is there parking?
Ask our team about parking when you book. They can tell you what to expect when you arrive.
Is the colonoscopy done at the same office?
No. Procedures are done at Specialty Surgical Center of Beverly Hills, less than a mile west on Wilshire Boulevard. Office visits are at the Wilshire office.
Can I take the Metro to my procedure?
You can take the Metro to an office visit. After a procedure with sedation, you need a responsible adult to take you home, so you should not travel home alone by train or bus.
